2022 - The 7th “Year of Writing and Scholarly Publishing” at TWU!
On Friday, October 14, 2022 we will finally get together again to celebrate our ongoing initiative with a big 'face-to-face' writing retreat. In collaboration with our long-time partners at TAA, the Center for Faculty Excellence will host a two-part writers’ workshop, incl. lunch and oodles of inspiration. I. Getting Unstuck – How to Restart When your Writing Stalls
(10 am to 11.30 am)
II. Making your Projects Flow with Kanban Flow
(12.30 pm to 2.00 pm)
Location: Library BHL 101 (Joyce Thompson Lecture Hall) -- Denton Campus
The workshop(s) will be conducted by Erin McTigue, President of The Positive Academic. Erin is widely published, has won teaching and mentoring awards, and continually aims to bring a lightness of spirit to the heaviness of academia.

The Just Write Group will be meeting again in person in the Center for Faculty Excellence, Stoddard Hall 308, on the following dates :
March 11 -- March 25 -- April 1-- April 15 -- April 10 -- April 29 The sessions run from 9-12 and 1-4, with a brown bag lunch for sharing tips and strategies for writing success in between. More info about the groups from Gretchen Busl. |

On Friday, October 30, 2020 we will finally get to celebrate our ongoing initiative with a big 'virtual' writing retreat. The Center for Faculty Excellence will host a two-part writers’ workshop.
I. A Writing Habit: The Myths, The Truths, and Making Your Own Plan
(10 am to 12 noon)
II. Project Management for Writing
(1 pm to 2.30 pm)

The workshop(s) will be conducted by Erin McTigue, President of The Positive Academic. Erin is widely published, has won teaching and mentoring awards, and continually aims to bring a lightness of spirit to the heaviness of academia.
This is an intensive, interactive writing retreat and due to copyright restrictions it will not be recorded. Please let us know you are coming via our Registration Page. Participants will also receive a complimentary one-year membership to the Textbook and Academic Authors Association (TAA) – while supplies last!

The Center for Faculty Excellence hosted "Efficiency with Style: Revising Your Manuscript at the Macro & Micro Levels" in collaboration with the Textbook and Academic Authors Association (TAA). The workshop was conducted by Erin McTigue, Writing and Productivity Coach for Academics as well as President of The Positive Academic. |

TAA Workshop #3

On Friday, March 23, 2018 we celebrated our writing initiative with our third big retreat. The Center for Faculty Excellence hosted "Discovering How to Deliver What Editors and Publishers Need: Demystifying the Academic Writing and Publishing Process" in collaboration with the Textbook and Academic Authors Association (TAA). The workshop was conducted by Dr. Kathleen P. King, journal and book editor, faculty coach, faculty development expert, and professor of doctoral students. Location: MCL Building in Denton, Room 504. |
TAA Workshop #2On Friday, March 24, 2017 we celebrated our writing initiative with another big retreat. The Center for Faculty Excellence hosted “Publish & Flourish: Become a Prolific Scholar” in collaboration with the Textbook and Academic Authors Association (TAA). The workshop was conducted by Tara Gray, renowned writing coach and Founding Director of the Teaching Academy, New Mexico State University. Location: Blagg Huey Library in Denton, Room 101. The event included Breakfast and a Luncheon, and a complimentary copy of Tara’s book on writing strategies! |
